Education

Sumandeera studied at Royal College Colombo. He holds a Master's degree in Business Administration and specialized Investment Banking Diploma from PDCP Bank in the Philippines. He is a Fellow Member (FCMA) of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants of the United Kingdom and Fellow Member (FCPA) of the Chartered Public Accountants of Australia. He is also an Attorney at Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka, Notary Public and registered Company Secretary.

Royal College is a selective entry boys' school located in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Started as a private school by Rev Joseph Marsh in 1835, it was established as the Colombo Academy by Sir Robert Wilmot-Horton in January 1836, the first government-run secondary school for boys in the island. Sumanadeera entered Royal College in 1977 and completed his education in 1986.

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants is a UK based professional body offering training and qualification in management accountancy and related subjects. It is focused on accountants working in industry, and provides ongoing support and training for members. FCMA designations are our members' mark of competency and professionalism and show their continued commitment to working within the public interest. Sumanadeera was became a Fellow Member in 1996.

Sri Lanka Law College was established as the Ceylon Law College under the Council of Legal Education in 1874 in order to impart a formal legal education to those who wished to be lawyers in Ceylon. The institute is situated at Hulftsdorp Street in Colombo. An Attorneys at law in Sri Lanka is the only legal practitioners authorized to represent others in all court of law in the island and are also authorized to give advice regarding any matter of law. Sumanadeera took oaths as an Attorney at Law in 1993.

The Fellow of Chartered Professional Accountants (FCPA) will be granted to those members who have rendered exceptional service to the profession or whose achievements in their careers, the community, or in the profession have earned them distinction and brought honour to the profession. Sumanadeera became a Fellow member of the CPA in 2001

Life Member of Bar Association of Sri Lanka since 1999

The legal profession in Sri Lanka was recognized by the Charter of Justice in the year 1802 and the Bar Association of Sri Lanka was Bar Council of Sri Lanka represented the Advocates of Sri Lanka and Law Society of Sri Lanka represented the Proctors of Sri Lanka in all matters affecting their respective professions. With the introduction of this new Law both these branches of the legal profession was mingled, into one group of legal practitioners as ‘Attorneys- at- Law’ leading to establishing the Bar Association of Sri Lanka as the apex body of all lawyers in Sri Lanka.

Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the Postgraduate Institute Of Management (PIM) Sri Jayawardenapura University

The PIM, established in 1986 by an Ordinance under the Universities Act 16 of 1978, is one of the eight postgraduate institutes in the university system of Sri Lanka. It's the only higher education entity in the government sector that is ISO 9000:2008 certified. It is a member of the Association of the Advanced Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), and pursues to get accredited by this premier global body.
